Vowing to stand against prevalent culture, the state’s Southern Baptists on Tuesday reaffirmed their long-held belief that homosexuality is a sin.

However, for the first time, delegates to the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma’s annual meeting crafted a statement expressing their intent to offer compassion for gays.

agreed. The official 'stance' and the action of the members are often pretty varied. Saying the group will do one thing and actually having it happen is another.
