From Randy just now:” The Trache’ is gone, only tood a few but the Trache’ is now out. Still nothing by mouth though. Later all.”

I bet that is a big relief for Randy. It’s been hard for him to speak so we have been still texting. He is still in the recovery hospital but moved upstairs now where he has a decent view. Below is his whole address and room number. Man I miss my friend.

Sorry but I got behind a bit on the messages. For Randy no news is good news but it's a long process. I've been trying to keep my wife, son, daughter and son-in-law happy this deer season. So far my Daughter and Son-in-law both have nice sized 10 point bucks. No Bambi deer for us. We have been trying to better the crop on our property.

Take care all
Ron

That's awesome, I am glad he is doing well. Recovery in a process like this can be agonizingly slow, unfortunately. But forward progress is forward progress. Give Randy my best!

Randy passed his swallow test. He has not been able to take ANYTHING by mouth since mid October. He now has his Nestea off to the side of his bed. This is a big step even if the hospital food for his “lunch” was only a couple bouillon packets in a cup of water. It is a big start back on the road to recovery.

My father went through similar issues, and I have cousin that has done the "no eating by mouth" thing with a different disease, so I know that just actually "eating" something on your own is a huge deal.

Randy and I have not been texting so much now that he can talk. He no longer has a Trache' and that is really nice that we are able to talk. Now that he can finally eat after almost 2 months without anything by mouth at all he has relearned how to eat. He no longer looks like he escaped from the hangman ether. He sent me some pictures one of the bruises on his stomach and I had to tease him a bit about it because without knowing what I was looking at I was worried it was porn for a minute and I had to tease him a bit about it. The Great NEWs is that Randy is coming home the Friday. Right now I'm building ramps for his front door and two places in his house where he is going to need ramps for my Mom's electric wheel chair. I've got the one for the front entrance done and should have the other two done before he gets home. I also worked on his old Bronco today as it would not start and we couldn't even jump it or use my 125 amp charger. I ended up pulling one of the batteries from my truck so I could start it and move it to where it needed to go. One of these days Randy is going to have to spring for a couple of batteries. All in all I'm please that Randy is doing much better and he can even enjoy having our talks like we used to. I believe all the prayers have made a difference for Randy. Now I have to tell a secret. When I prayed the "sinners prayer" with Randy in the ICU when I thought he was going to die and he had that tube down his throat I thought ALL RIGHT! He is saved. Well some bad news is he does not remember that he shook his head and squeezed my hand when I asked him if he wanted me to say it again with him so he could think it alone with me. I have let him know that we need to go over this again and he said Okay. Wish me luck in that I get it right for him.
