I have a bunch of generic 'Colt 45' gun show mags.
Funny thing is... they all run good in a commerical Colt 80 series... but a few of those cheap mags would hang up in a West Hurley Auto Ordinance built out of those returned US/Korean surplus parts that came back here a few years back. They were tight in a GI frame-just like you describe.
Getting mags to run a 1911 can be art and science sometimes. That AO wouldnt run on Wilsons 47's either...
