Politicians will do whatever serves their need for power. Having said that, the most important determining factor in any conflict is will. The will of the fighters and the will of the populace to support them. Next are the kinetic weapons systems and the skill to use them.

Not having the support of the populace is critical. It is said that war is politics by other means, and this is true. Failure to gain the support for fighting and sacrificing will result in failure. This is where the .GOV has excelled by creating dependency and compliance. Until enough people are willing to sacrifice their comforts for a cause that is greater than themselves then at best we will have a stalemate, at worst a tyranny.

Yup, even if it was 400 yards its still a chip shot for a decent rifleman with irons, that was not the point of the thread, I was just surprised to see people bringing weapons to bear on LEOs. It's one thing to have them just in case, it's another to be sighted in.

Define just in case. This was just in case. Bring a gun "just in case" and be prepared to use it. This event was not a drill. One long story after a quick decision - there would have been a bunch of hurt/dead folks on both sides of those fence panels.

I think and hope we are all glad here at OSA that it ended peacefully; a conflict would be awful for both sides...the armed citizens were within the law and were just there to keep the cops honest...that is what the 2nd amendment is...to keep those in power honest. It was the BLM pointing most of the guns anyway, not the protestors...all they had to do was put a lien on the guy's property...no need to send in an army against Bundy and his supporters...Bundy isn't perfect...I haven't agreed with some of what he has said and the way it was said...But the gov't doesn't muster much support when they go in with force when it isn't necessary....that is ASKING for conflict. Luckily cooler heads prevailed. God Bless the USA!
