I'll make you the coffee myself. Strong assed lifer juice. Taste like someone dropped a cigarette butt in the brewer. After watching "Obama at War" on PBS just now, I could use a cup myself. Apparently, he encouraged anti Assad pro democracy demonstrations in Syria several years back during the Arab Spring whatever and Assad responded insolently to the altruistic notions. Now that area is what it is. Although Syria was an ally, as was Libya, now those places are, well...

So the show went on to show both sides of his mental struggles as he strove to keep us out of what he had unintentionally helped create.

My last post on this thread reflecting on Memorial Day will be that of John Basilone. Unlike Audie Murphy who tried repeatedly to get killed and then received the MOH, Basilone did the opposite; he tried not to get killed - but after winning the MOH at Guadalcanal he changed. He insisted on going back into action. Recklessly attacking the Japanese, firing a machine gun from the hip as he ran at them on foot.

To read his book will leave you troubled.

I wouldn't go that far, but his book has a very dark tone to it, much darker than the movie, which isn't all that surprising given what he experienced.
