I love snakes too, they're good rodent control. But some snakes are not a good fit with human habitation, and the cottonmouth fits that description to a T.

Me too - I think snakes are cool, and like you, anything that eats the destructive rodents is a friend of mine. But with two young kids, the venomous ones aren't high on my list of "keepers".

Using one of those claw pick-up tools from the garage, I caught a juvenile copperhead that was hanging out at my mom's koi pond on her front porch, threw it into a bucket with a lid and drove it up the road to the woods and let it go.

Nope....the poison will seep through the skin and get to your feet and eat your feet off. I'm not putting dead snake on my feet.

I pretty much agree with that statement...... I HATE snakes with a passion, mainly because I am a wuss around them.... I will try to leave the non-poisonous ones alone.....

Poisonous ones around the house...... Another story...
