This is what I deal with every year. I don't have a single tree in my yard. I think there are seven or eight on the other side of that fence. I have already trimmed these once this year. And, you can't see the huge cottonwood in that yard that plays hell with everybody's A/C units every year.

One of my black jack trees out back has a bunch of huge black ants all over it. They are living in the darn thing! Are they eating the tree or just living in it? I have never seen it before.

Would love to have a persimmon tree. I could deal with the bag worms.

I have several persimmon trees in my yard. If they hadn’t already been big and mature when I moved in, I’d have cut them down! The web worms maul these trees every year to the point the trees look like giant cotton candy balls, and every year the darn trees come back. Thankfully none of them produce berries, so I don’t have to deal with them messing up the yard or giving my dogs diarrhea.

Carpenter ants loooooove blackjacks because they can almost completely hollow one out and have it still be strong enough to stand. Next stop after the trees is your house, so you want to get rid of them post haste.
