Because ‘civics’ isn’t being taught anymore. History has been glossed over by left leaning teachers that only teach touchy feel good stuff. They also key in on events that put conservatives in a bad light.
Both of my kids were in AP history. One had a great experience and the other had a horrible experience. One teacher would leave important dates and events out to paint a narrative. After many phone calls and meetings, we got that problem solved. The teacher opted to let an assistant finish out the year.

Remember the proposed bill by a republican congressman to get rid of AP history? This is why.
AP curriculum is not set in stone and largely left to the teacher.
The left and left leaning teachers flipped their chit at the time.
We were dealing with this when Michelle Obama gave her ‘we need to change the history books’ speech.
