Guys, it doesn't take a thousand acres to have a place to deer hunt.
I have farm ground with 95% of it with no trees, nothing. Just a T post in the ground to mark the property lines.
One little 22 acre area in the middle of a farmed section has put two wall hangers in the shop. I'll be hunting it again this year for the first time in 5 or so years. I hunt on a neighbor to help with his DMAP.
A buddy used to hunt this place, and the casino has taken over his life, so I'm taking it back. He hasn't even called me this fall. Been friends since High school. Put in food plots, etc.
Couple of things to point out. Stay in the stand all day during rut. Note the time when this biggun came in to check for hot does.
He has never been seen before nor since.
I've been to all of the local check stations, as they have big buck contests going on, and take pics of the deer brought in by the locals. Have not seen where this deer has been taken, but we have lots of poachers in our area.
Work has me screwed up for the first three weeks of archery, but there will be lots of time in the stand waiting for this guy to show up......I'm focusing on one deer this season....
Used to hunt with permission until I moved to Tulsa area about 6 years ago. Was giving up on hunting because I didn't know about the PHA's around here until a buddy wanted to go dove hunting. Nice to know people with access to different land are still hunting public land as this is my first year to ever hunt public land.
Its hard to find a real good public spot these days without seeing a field of orange. I go to ft gibson pha the deer arent that big but thick. Found a guy with 80 acres out there that is gonna let me hunt on this year has deer stands all over it and lots of deer hopefully it will work out.
Got permission to hunt some private land over by Glenco, been hunting one of their places called Walts corner for 7 years. Year before last they leased it out to be farmed and the owners called me up and said the leaser did,nt want me in there no more. Think he stoled from them to!!! soon as his lease was over they called me up and said i could hunt agian.
Really looking foward to this year their son has moved off and i get to hunt one of their other spots!!! got to spring turkey hunt there for a long time, always jumping up deer there.
Before getting to know these people i hunted over by oilton by crow bridge. Mostly outlaws hanging out, them guys can handle their guns. Its them city boys on public ground that scare the crap out of me.
Im on 600 acres just north of Tulsa in the Osage. The landowner allows archery only. And if I see the one that got away last year, it's going to be payback time!!!
