Nothing to fancy, Mossberg 590 with a Fenix TK12 light mounted to it.

It depends...

The Remington 870 platform has more options for upgrading and custom accessories then the Mossberg 500. If you want to start with an affordable base, and swap out parts I would probably go that route vs. starting with a Mossberg 500.

If you want to spend a few extra dollars, you can go the Mossberg 590 route. These days you can buy a lot of Mossberg 590's straight from the factory with a lot of upgrades already installed. Everything in my mossberg 590 is how it came from the factory with the exception of the ammo cuff on the stock and the Fenix light and mount.

It really comes down to how you want your gun setup, and how much you want to spend. Honestly, it's hard to go wrong with any Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 or 590

The only bad thing about the Remingtons now is they are using a very cheap powerder coating process that is crap. My 870 has only been to the range once, the finish was coming off and it had rust spots coming up from under the coating.

$100 and it is good as new now, but that is totally unacceptable in my eyes.

I forgot to take some before pictures, but this was a well used old Mossy I picked up outta the classifieds. It had a 28" barrel that was bulged near the end and a cracked wood stock. I cut the barrel down, refinished in FDE duracoat, and replaced the wood with a shorter Hogue overmolded rubber stock set.

Nothing fancy, just a good shooter and a great truck gun.
