Somebody cut the catalytic converter off my beloved truck while I was in the store dropping off prescriptions ...

Whoever you, you better hope the security cameras didn't catch your tag number!!

Oh ... I forgot to add, I was in the store all of 15 minutes. Ya'll be careful and pay attention. Whoever it was had to have been trolling lots this morning -- my truck was parked up toward the front (like second car in the row) but a little over to the side, parking lot was FULL of cars, in broad daylight. Blah!!

It happened at our office. They go for the high setting trucks/SUV. I've heard it takes about two minutes for the whole thing.

My 90 Toyota truck ... I was at Northwest Passage and Northwest Expressway. Not like it is an out of the way place or anything. And the whole danged area for as far as the eye can see is covered with Christmas shoppers. But I will say this, whoever it was this was not their first rodeo ... they were fast and the cuts were clean ... Blah!!

GC said it probably took them all of a minute ... maybe ... cuz you can practically sit under my truck.

They troll for Toyota and Nissans like that. Easy to access and fairly good return on the parts whether they sell them resale them whole or part them out for the metal scrap. I hope you are able to get some leads, though I fear you won't


When I worked in OKC, the Shepherd Mall parking lot had the problem a lot, even when well-occupied in the of working hours (8-5). Surely someone sees things going on. Blows my mind it still happens.

Scrap for sure but stop and think about it ... 5 converters a day, 5 minutes each to steal tops, $15-$20 (maybe more now that metal has gone up) ... that's a couple hundred bucks for not much time at all ...

I'm really surprised -- GC's taking it in stride ... I'm the one wound up tighter than an 8 day clock!! Bastards ... Blah!!

Yep, it was probably a bunch of experienced thieves - it takes forethought to steal a red-hot piece of metal. They'd have to be prepared and waiting, so they can be in and out in less than a minute with a lookout.
