My buddy went by the store earlier tonight but the owner is not taking any responsibility and saying if my buddy has an issue, he needs to talk to the person that actually did the work. The owner said the barrel looked fine to him and that he wouldn't have an issue shooting it. The owner said he'd have the person who did the weld call him tomorrow.

Yes, he needs to take him to civil court and get everything replaced. Not his fault it was subcontracted. Bad part is he paid with cash.

I just searched the shop's name on OSA and it seems the owner is a member (AAT) on here but he only has 3 posts, so it appears he doesn't check the site very often. My friend made him aware of the thread but he didn't seem to care.

I agree about him being responsible for the work he contracts out. My buddy paid him the money, not the contractor.

I would have an actual gunsmith(or two) sign off on the safety issues of the gun, take the letter(s) and parts back to the store and offer them one more chance to make it right or go to court. You'd think they'd rather be out the cost of the parts alone rather than the costs of going to court and losing even more money, but who knows..

I don't know the full legalities of it, but it would seem if AAT paid someone else to do the work it would be no different than having another employee do it. AAT should be liable for the gross frackup and make right, then they can collect from the idiot who done that work for them.
