But not too apathetic to state your opinion on a keyboard.... why not use the keyboard to try and get things done?

Because I suspect the Governor vetoed it for her own reasons, perhaps because she is a shill of the Chambers of Commerce, but not because she misunderstood how the law would/could be applied. And I don't believe we'd shake the will of the Governor regardless of how much we educate her. But then I'm a cynic LOL. I'm in contact with state and federal legislators about a lot of issues, but truth be told this one is lower my priorities than others (and I concede that's probably an unpopular opinion on a gun forum).

For the record, I didn't vote for her either. But we, the people, did.

Why don't you study groups like the sheriff and peace officer assn. and the CoC? You will quickly find out they are run by a handful of people and do what they want. Individual members have no say in what they do. They are in the raise money and influence politics business.

Dude, I'm know what you mean about cynical. I don't know why this particular veto got my ire up so much. It really doesn't do much the way concealed and open carry did. Maybe it was the fact that she vetoed 3 gun bills last year to "send a message" to the legislature and nobody said anything. Maybe it's because I've met several of these "big-wigs" in a different capacity and heard the "DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?" dressing down one too many times, I don't know. Maybe if this were a larger issue, the governor wouldn't have given in. I'm just fed up with being ignored until somebody needs my vote or my dollar. I really want to take away something from this even if there's no boycott, nothing happens and the chamber gets their way. I just felt like this needed to be addressed before they play games with some of our rights that DO matter more to us.

May not know what I am talking about but don't the powers in the CC own businesses. If so are not those the businesses that should be targeted.

Boycotting will do nothing but hurt the small businesses and most of them are only members so they can get affordable healthcare for them and their employees other than that the small business doesnt give a squat about the CC, so on that note im against a boycott for all business but if the top officials at CC owns a business then go for it.

The president of the c of c, I don't know, that may be his only job. The exec committee that sits at the head of the c of c are the directors of OG&E, Bancfirst, Daily Oklahoman, etc. The board of directors are everything from the FAA, Boeing, OU Health Sciences Center, Sandridge and so forth. Other than banking somewhere else and not taking the paper, what else can the average joe do? They sit on boards all over the state, fingers in many pies, they have a PAC over at the capitol, they have the ears of the legislature and the governor's office, what can you do against that? "I'll stop shopping at Sandridge" or "I won't go to OU health sciences center if I get cancer" doesn't really have the effect I had in mind when I thought about boycotting their businesses. I don't even know where to begin, so screw it, it's a bust.

Well at least we are getting a first hand dose showing the difference between true conservatives and big business lackies masquerading as republicans we have in office.
