Anyone NOT planning on getting the P320 upgrade?

With my handgun inventory reduction I have been searching for what I wanted in a Woods, Water and Camp pistol. I'm not a big fan of the plastic guns but do recognize their capabilities and wanted one of them for this role. I have two SIG P220s - an old and a new. The old, a german nickle slide model is my carry gun and I have been using it in the camp gun role. The new is a P220 Legion for the house and range and I'll not use it for that. I wanted something that I wouldn't worry about getting wet or muddy and would be easy to clean if I did. I tried a Glock 30s and it's a great little gun but didn't fit my hand at all. The new Gen 5 fits my hand well but it's a 9mm, so that was out. I had previously shot a couple of P320s that friends had and liked the trigger very much. Then came the upgrade scenario. My biggest concern of the P320 is that the upgrade will impact on the trigger smoothness. I'm not really concerned about the drop test. In about 60 years of handguns I've only dropped one once - and that was intentional when in Vietnam I let go of my Browning High Power to grab a nearby available rifle. I think the design of the P320 would lend itself to easy cleaning if I slipped while fly fishing or something like that. There are lots available now that owners are nervous about them but I could buy a new one thru the SIG AP program for less than what some are going for used. So, I ordered a compact .45 to take on that role. I'll see how the upgrades affect the trigger and may or may not upgrade mine. Just wondering how many other owners were thinking along that line.

No one ever plans on dropping a pistol. The disturbing thing about the p320 is that if you do drop it in the way that it can go off is that it's pointed at an angle that could hit you in the chest or head.

In addition it's not just dropping the pistol. A simple whack to the gun from a slip or fall or hitting it on something can cause the gun to discharge in the holster. This already happened to a police officer. Just get the upgrade.

Or when in a car wreck. Or when someone else is shooting or handling it. In my invaluable opinion, its in no way worth it to have one and not have it fixed.

I'm also not too worried about getting the upgrade. . .and the 320 is my EDC. I like the gun so much I'll be getting another one to keep in the console, so maybe at that time I'll send this one in for the upgrade. Or maybe not.

Remember, it's not an EDC in my case. My P220 is. If it was I would be more concerned. It's a camp gun. There is no way it's going off until I chamber a round which only takes a second. In the summer it's two snake shot followed by seven rounds of ball ammo.

Someone fill me in on this , Didn't Sig deny there was a problem for a while? Or did they come to their senses and realize the sales would plummet if they didn't respond and fix them?

I have the Apex flat trigger on all of mine.... they couldn't reproduce it with one of their triggers. I might still send my full size one in though to see what they do to it.

And we all know that a 9mm won't kill you...

Well, actually, I don't normally talk about it but have a 9mm in the pocket anytime I'm not carrying another handgun, and sometimes when I am. With modern ammo 9mm is very effective. I wouldn't hesitate to carry a G19 or 9mm P320 for self defense. But, that is not the role of my camp gun. I want a .45 for that because I want to use snake shot and ball ammo in that gun. With that, 9mm is not as effective as .45 ACP. Besides, after using both for over 55 years I just prefer .45 ACP, even with my old arthritic hands. After shooting the P320 compact I'll probably do the upgrade. The trigger is the absolute best striker fire trigger I have ever felt and I've shot a bunch. I agree with Dolly - Everyone needs a pi$$ant gun.
