Had to go by Wal-Mart in Edmond (I-35 & 15th) earlier today to pick up items for my mother and uncle....both I have told to not leave the house and that I would get them any little thing they need for the foreseeable future. It was the least busy I've ever seen it on a Saturday. I mean....there were still people there but nowhere near the typical Wally-World levels.

Heading home, I had to run to Home Depot to pick up an online order of stuff necessary to do repairs at mom's place. If I have to go out, I make the trip as quick as possible...online order - in & out. The southside HD (I-240 & Shields) was mobbed. People everywhere. I mean garden center, checkout, pro-desk.....all freaking as busy as I've seen it. Nuts. I didn't venture into the store past the entrance, but I could tell that there were people there just browsing...looking for some way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

And that's just irresponsible and crazy.

I was at the local WalMart a couple hours ago and it wasn't slammed, prolly just slightly less busy than a normal Saturday afternoon. Maybe around the 2/3 mark. People did seem to be keeping their distance a bit.

I managed to make it all the way through WM without ever touching my face with my hands - amazing how much we tend to do that! My freaking nose and face just kept itching like I'd been in an attic full of insulation! lol

So I managed to use my long sleeve to scratch and rub my face and nose every time I needed to. Then when i got out to my truck, I opened the rear door, unloaded my couple of light bags and took the cart back. When I got back to my truck, I open the driver's side door, got into my console and got my small bottle of hand sanitizer. I used a liberal amount of that to rub all over my hands and both outside door handles of the truck, then another large dollop to do my hands again, my phone, keyring/alarm remote interior doorhandle and center console latch as well as the bottle of hand sanitizer itself.

I think I sanitized everything I touched in or on my truck after touching the cart. But I used up about half my small bottle of sanitizer doing it. Dangit.

This is crazy.

So , let me get this straight. 300 million Americans are going to stay in their houses shivering in fear til June 1.
Then they are all going to come outside and dance in the streets that the virus is gone. Where upon they will immediately catch the virus and have the medical catastrophe they fear today. But with a ruined economy and no jobs.

I do the same thing except I have a small bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol and an old sock.
Once inside the PU I slip the sock over one hand, dollop some alcohol on it and wipe down everything I've touched.
Then I wipe my hands down with the sock.

I've also started carrying rubber gloves to put on when I pump gas and then peel em off and throw away before getting back into the PU.

After looking at the life span of the virus on surfaces, I've been sanitizing the mail and packages that are delivered that arrive in just a couple of days, and it's contents lol. Hard to open a package from the northeastern states or Oregan without wondering.

Haven’t been anywhere except Dr office in 16 days. Unless you have to go to work there is no reason to go out. I’ve had groceries and restaurant food delivered. To go out unnecessarily is selfish and and inconsiderate of others. We either have a shelter in place order or we don’t.

You and I are running neck and neck. Last place I've been was the doctor on the 11th (17 days). I agree with you on staying home. If people a lot smarter than me (I'm talking scientists/doctors NOT politicians) say it's the only way to curb this virus back then anybody that doesn't have to be out shouldn't be.

I stopped by Ace on my motorcycle ride. I needed bug spray. Spring and all.

The place was so busy and the checkout lines so long I turned around and went home. They sure weren't any six feet apart, either.

So true, at some point we have to come out. This is way over reacting in my opinion. Who says it will be safe in 4 months? 6 months? I give this about 2 weeks and there will be so many people going out there will be no way to enforce it. And who knows this virus may morph and change. There aren't many on here who are disagreeing with the status quote but I am. I think right now without the "shelter in place" was good enough.
