I get delayed every single time now. Unless the FFL does it on the computer, then I go through. But, calling it in, yeah delayed. Even though I have my CCW permit and I have a spotless record other than a few speeding tickets in the past.Just got my first ever "delay". Bought a gun in February, no problem. Today ... was told up to 6 days.
I've on whatever list that gets me a 3-6 waiting period every dang time. And if it is a place that requires a proceed, like Cabelas, I'm just banned from buying there.
I had the same happen to me a decade ago at Academy.
I've never tried to buy a gun there again. They treat a delayed like a denied.
I'm not going to waste my time filling out the form.
An interesting side note, and I think I've told this story here before. The morning I got denied there, I started looking around and found the same gun (Mossberg 835) at a pawn shop over in Mustang (don't recall the name, but you guys know it) for $10 cheaper than Academy. I went out there right at noon, asked the dude what his policy was, filled out the form, and it was approved about as fast as I've ever been approved. Same day. Not 2 hours apart. It didn't make any sense then, and it makes even less now in the digital age.
And I am very glad about that.Supposedly come November 1st if you have a CPL you won't have to go through the check. You still fill out the 4473, but it doesn't get called in. Although I bet places like Cabela's won't follow this.
I don’t think this is correct. Reason I say this is I am a FFL holder and had an inspection of my records today by an ATF agent out of OKC and I asked him if a customer has a concealed carry license do they still have to go through a back ground check.Supposedly come November 1st if you have a CPL you won't have to go through the check. You still fill out the 4473, but it doesn't get called in. Although I bet places like Cabela's won't follow this.
