We've been buying Hyundai's now for a while & my wife and one of my daughters drive them, the other a Toyota. I think for the money you can't buy a better car than a Hyundai
My wife had a 2013 Hyundai Sonata V6 that we purchased new and had 405,000 miles on it when one of our daughters borrowed it for a day and totaled it.
I had just put new brakes, rotors, timing belt, plugs, water pump, and valve cover gaskets and few other minor maintenance items a few days before. My wife drove it as a daily driver to keep miles off the Subaru Outback. We were, for the fun of it, seeing if she could get 500,000 miles out of the car. I do believe we could have if the daughter had not totaled the car. Fortunately our daughter was not hurt in the one car accident.

The only complaints I had about the car were the seats were uncomfortable and the road noise.

At 405,000 miles it still did not burn oil between oil changes.

The Sonata was not a luxury car by any means, but functional and dependable.

Correction: The Sonata was a 2,006 model. Our Subaru Outback is a 2013 model. (Brain Fart)

I wonder if cars actually cost the dealer more now or if they are just using availability as an excuse to screw the customer more than usual? Tried to buy a Honda Passport last month and they wanted $2k over MSRP BEFORE they added extra crap like all weather mats and nitrogen in tires. They can keep them.
I think it's a bit of both but they never lose an opportunity to put it over on the buyer.
Years ago I read that Warren Buffet drives a Cadillac and he owns the dealership in Omaha, Nebraska. First thing that crossed my mind was "So maybe they're not screwing him as much as they used to, now that he owns the place."

Granddaughter and her hubby were "thinking" about a new one. I hold them, this isn't the time unless you have no choice.

They went to the Kia dealer. Salesman tells them to take their time, pick the one they want and come to the office for him to write it up.

She asked about pricing? He says, look at the stickers, add $5k, that's it, take it or leave it.

They left. Decided now wasn't the time.

I just bought tires at $1600. Spending revoked until next year unless there’s an emergency. Wife almost made me sell a gun (“toy” car so to her tires weren’t required).
We can thank Uncle Joe for that inflation. Everyone is feeling the effect of those bad decisions at the fuel pump dealerships, and at the supermarket.

A friend went to the dealership in Ponca city to look at one of the new heavy half GMC diesels. MSRP + for pricing.
He went to the dealership in Stillwater and negotiated off the MSRP so he bought it.
We bought our F-250 during the middle of the pandimic. Built the truck on paper, got a firm quote, and then emailed it to every dealership in three states to get offers.
Enid got close but the original dealership in Ponca finally said they would match the $6K off MSRP that Enid quoted.
Not good enough. We said they had to beat it or lose it so they knocked off another $500 and included the auto step rails that drop down when the door opens.
Don't believe they won't negotiate.
