Oklahoma a title holding state again?

Time was, when a person got the title for their vehicle and it had been financed, one still got the title, but the title also listed the lender as the "lienholder." When our Ford F450 and RV were paid off, we got lien releases from the lender(s) and the state then issued new titles without the lienholder's name.

That's how all mine have been here. Had the lienholder on the title with me.

I would get pulled over if I was a week late! Not sure how some people get away with it..

I figure I'd get a full on tactical SWAT stop if I ran a day late on a temp tag and I see people running 6-9 months or more out of date all the time.

A Tulsa traffic patrol cop could make quota every time by just making those stops. However, if I were in that position, I'd probably be set down quickly for my stats being strongly skewed toward paper tag stops and obstructed vision stops from the handicap hang tags that clearly state "Do Not Drive with Hang Tag in place."

Title paper shortage. Yes, that is a thing. It’s been going on now for a while, but a new vehicle should already have the title from the manufacturer. The paper shortage should only apply after you registered the vehicle. I’m sure they have a new excuse now..

Edit: I guess Oklahoma became a title holding state July 1, 2022.

Heard tell some states are issuing 90-120 day temp tags.. it's called the new normal.

Usually get my titles pretty quick, registered a bike the other day and its been like 2 weeks almost lol. I was also told there is a title paper shortage.

Here in Nebraska they print your new title on the spot and you leave with it. I was surprised how painless the process was compared to Oklahoma. It was a total of like $60 to register my car/transfer title when I moved here and I walked out with new plates and title in under 15 minutes.

I was told, yesterday, by our tag agent that OK titles are running about 12 weeks out. Also because of a paper shortage. What kind of shortage will they think of next???

I bought a new bike in April and had the dealer paper work in about 3 weeks. After my rather expensive trip to the tag agent I had my regular title in the mail in about 2 weeks putting all that to about the last week of May.
