Are ccw exempt from 4473?

permits issued after 11/1/21 & apply only to 5 year license.

Five years from the date issued (if, and only if, issued on or after 11/01/21). May apply to the first five years of a 10 year license, again, when issued on or after 11/01/21.

The only problem I see is the wording, "during the initial five-year period only". Which 5-year period? When I got it in 2018 or the date of my 5-year renewal {9/1/23)? The 9/1/23 and the 9/1/28 are the only dates on my card.

To clarify further, in this case, the five year period would extend from 9/1/23 until 9/1/28. A ten year license (9/1/23 until 9/1/33) would also be good only through 9/1/28, as the feds do not recognize a background check that is older than five years. So, in this case, your OK handgun license will substitute for a NICS background check between now and 9/1/28.

Sounds like they needed an incentive for us to renew our cards after passing the carry law. I’ll do it just because I don’t like standing around for 20 minutes waiting for NICS.
