Sorry my friend, been buying and selling higher end 1911s for quite some time, Gunbroker typically sucks for deals and it's horrible right now. In which the subject was that you stated you can find them under 1K. Doesn't really seem to be the case, any links to show some foundation for that are welcome.

Doesn't say under $1000...this thread says in the $1000 dollar range. Just do a search for competed action and see for yourself.

As expected, no reference. You might get lucky here or there, kinda like I got lucky picking up two Wilson Supergrade for $1200 once, or a LN Baer TRS for $1300 once. However I don't go around saying that's what you can get them for. But the norm for TRPs was much higher even before the craziness.

They have 4 that sold on GB for $1100 and under (used) in the last 3 months. They have 4 that sold for $1299 new in the last 2 months, and 1 that sold for $1250 new in January. And yes you have to look for a good deal. And no you don't need a reference, just look at TRPs sold under completed auctions.

$1300 doesn't equal ~$1000 in my book but YMMV. At those prices the TRP just isn't worth it compared to a DW or used LB. Now, given the current situation I really don't feel that what I'm saying is off base and you obviously disagree and that's fine. However, coulda, shoulda, woulda, relisted auctions aside..... any link (reference) to a current auction that has a buy it now for ~1000 is absolutely welcome.

You and I obviously don't agree on anything. A new TRP at $1299 isn't worth it? Wow! For the price, the gun is great. I had a new LB Premier II and sold it after getting my TRP. The LB and DW are great guns, but the TRP will EASILY hold it's own with both. If you like spending money though, LB and DW is the way to go.

Sorry but a ~$1300 1911 shouldn't have MIM. Whether people believe those parts fail or not, it's a cost cutting measure and I remember when you could actually buy a new TRP for $1K all day long. Now that they commonly go for $14-1500 and apparently people are happy to pay $1300, it's a joke. People are better off just getting into used or new semi-custom of some sort.

As to the TRP being equal to a LB or DW, nah..... I know better. TRPs are great guns for sure as I've owned one as well, but there's no comparison to a Baer.

Hey...your entitled to your opinion...no matter how wrong it is. MIM....give me a break. Again, you go ahead and spend your money. DW.....I remember when you could get one for $1000 all day. Now you'll pay out the nose for something that won't out shoot a TRP. The Baer is nice, but I'd take a TRP at $1299 any day and let the gun snobs spend extra money on the LB. The LB is purdy and fits the hand great.... but it doesn't shoot any better than a TRP.

That's fine if you don't agree with me on MIM, I've broken MIM parts, and seen enough of them break so I'll pass, again especially in that price range.

You're showing some ignorance on DW models. It's no secret that the old DW's that went for $1000 all day were a far cry from what you see now, especially when you consider a Valor or Specialist. We are talking upgrades from non-proprietary sights, beefed up small parts, better fitting, and better finishes. In reference to a comparison to a TRP again, you have a more "customized" gun.... which may be wasted to those that don't know any better. Guys that probably never detail strip their guns and shoot 50 rds every few months just won't notice a difference. Again, better sights (10-8), better parts (EB safety, beefed up SS, etc ) better finishes, higher undercuts, beveling, flush cuts etc. All of these features show a better fit and finish from older DW's AND current TRPs.

Now someone that thinks owning a Bear is a "snob" again is being cliché and showing some ignorance of the upper tier 1911s. Baers are rough.....rougher than Dan Wessons.....with a worse finish. However they use great parts, barrels, frame and slides, and build them like tanks. You're shooting one 5K before it sets in. They are definitely a shooter's 1911 relative to anything near it's price.

Again, I like TRPs, they are great guns ~$1000 as most production 1911 don't touch them. However, I just have enough experience with different 1911s to know what's good for the money they are asking now.

I would a say a springer range officer is not to bad, not a custom pistol, but has adjustable sights, beaver tail and some other goodies. They make good platforms for upgrading later on as well. I am not sure what they are going for but I think they are between 750 and 900.

Not trying to join the fight just my 2 cents, take it or leave it in the free penny tray fro the next guy.

have fun,
A

I own 4 1911s and for me its the Ruger SR-1911 tightest fitting factory slide I've ever seen and deadly accurate feels like a custom gun with alot of custom features
