DRop out of school ... lose you driving privilage

I worked full time in High School, didn't have to drop out, wasn't a stellar performer, but I did graduate.

My wife was on her own at 16, worked full time, and made it through High School as well, she was a stellar performer.

I think there needs to be some incentive to finish school and pursue some sort of education or training. I'm not sure restricting driving is it though.

That incentive needs to come from the parent's, it's not something that can be legislated.

Sounds like it runs afoul of the Oklahoma State Constitution.
One of the provisions there is that you can educate your children as you see fit.

In addition the thread Title is misleading, driving isn't necessarily a simple privilege.

i disagree with this completely this is another example of the govt trying to control peoples lives, there are millionaires that are high school dropouts (see a couple from the list below), i am not saying that i would advise anyone to drop out, but the whole point is that you should have the choice with the govt regulating you....

There is, it's called getting a better job, or being able to go to college.

My idea of an incentive would be drastically cutting welfare benefits. (at first... with the goal being completely eliminating it)

Yeah I knew this passed already. Now he's trying to remove the employment exemption.

It'll pass unanimously, that's how we roll in OK. No regard for the consequences of our feel good actions.

If a student drops out, the school will have the parents/custodial parents sign a paper that states the child will be home schooled. It's just like a transfer...Makes the school district look good as well as the states records. Keeps the dropout numbers skewed beyond belief.

The bigger problem should be fixing those numbers.
