Man this thread brings back memories. Used to watch a lot of Audie Murphy films as a kid.

The Hanging Tree was another good Gary Cooper movie.
Brings back good memories. When I was kid, one of the Tulsa TV stations (6, I think) aired Western Theater on Friday nights. As I recall they were mostly Audie Murphy westerns. Probably not great films but I loved watching them with my Dad.

Gary Cooper was a good one. This thread is inspiring me to check out my father-in-law's collection. He has hundreds of old western movies from his youth.

My second favorite is "The Stalking Moon",,,
I think it's Gregory Peck's best performance,,,

Another good one. Saw The Stalking Moon on a hot July night at the Admiral Twin drive in the back of our '50 something Chevy 2 door along with my two older brothers. Celebrating one of my brother's birthday. Double feature - Stalking Moon followed The Cheyenne Social Club. Mom and Dad in the front seat. Dad swore he would never go to another movie for the rest of his life.
