No, not quite. Lets say it was, do you know why? It had nothing to do with slavery itself, but everything to do with the amount of representatives the south had in Congress. 10 slaves equaled 1 person as far as population and the division of Congressional districts. Even with that, the South had no worthy representation in Congress.

As I understand our history, the respect paid to Lee and various confederate military leaders was part of the effort to heal the wounds of the war. How ironic that those forces who seek to gain power by dividing the nation have chosen to do so by opening the wounds afresh. Someone should ask Lincoln how he feels about this.
