These other posts are good advice as far it goes I think. In my perfect world or a best case scenario when the time comes for the wife to defend herself, it would be best if she took these concerns as seriously as some of us do and dress right, pants, belt, kydex IWB holster, a self defense/combat pistol shooting class or two under her belt. Good luck with that. Mine won't.

Get her involved in the choice. You may not be "revolver" guy... but after a little training and exposure... she may be a "revolver gal",
Take her to that clinic the other poster mentioned.

A couple of my girly girl neices carry 45's Commander-type semi autos or 38 SW light weights as the mood strikes them. Of course... those girls had a wide variety of guns to try out and learn to shoot with between the shooters in our tribe.

Keep an open mind.. it's her gun after all.

How about making her the weapon? Maybe some krav maga and a R.A.D. course or 2? The better prepared she is mentally to handle an attack the better off she will be. After some good training work on putting some kind of weapon in the mix. Til then a can of O.C. would serve her well. Just my 2 cents

I voted pepper spray for my personal reasons.
I don't think I could ever convince my wife to carry a weapon.
I don't know that she would even carry pepper spray....
tried to get her to the range, but no sucess.

+1 on the .38/.357 snubby with .38+p's
many times i put away my full size pistols and carry this myself.
A solid point and click for self defence without the need for clearing jams and such.

If she really needs the protection that's a strange thing to say.

Indeed one wonders if cost is the most important factor which would be more expensive - the Kahr PM9 or a funeral?

To answer the main question: Pistol. Easier to use and learn than a revolver.

I'm sorry you feel its odd to say but money doesnt just grow on trees. Im being realistic in my situation.
