Ha! love all the replies and they are apprciated. I still have no idea but those that said wagon/buggy axle seem like the most plausible thing. But then I go back to what the hell would someone be thinking to take the time to drive that SOB that far into the ground? Annnnnnd, then I go back to what a poster said about doing it jsut to keep me awake at night. Well, mission accomplished and well done to jackwagon that drove this into the ground. All I need to do now is just not hit it with my tractor, mower or atv.

People use what they got! I have old buggy axles I use for big spud bars. They were plentiful in the past, with tons of uses that are outside the box.

YEs. Rusted but not enought to weaken it by any stretch.

I was noting it's appearance but @Ahall explained it was different metal content that didn't rust the same.

Someone suggested digging down and cutting it off or you could drive a t post near it and keep as a conservation piece.

Yeah. Drive t-post next to it anchor the 2 together and put a bluebird house on the t-post. Now you are a conservationist.

The person who stuck it in the ground must have found the one soft spot in Creek county. Everyte I’ve tried to set a post or plant a tree, I hit sandstone about 10” deep.
