Please explain why this would be illegal. Is it because it's not concealed?

It's not concealed now and would be illegal loaded, and is an invitation to get stolen if you leave it unattended in Nov.

Having been used to carrying a handgun in the truck in KY, I did the open transport of unloaded gun and magazine in OK before SDA, and dropped it in the console when not transporting.

the most intended use is for trips - more than day to day I wouldn't be leaving it in the holster when away from vehicle

I have a truck and will be putting a tuffy box under the seat. They use a slide out drawer that can be locked.
