Suspenders

I hate tucking in my shirt so I have a pair of the under your shirt style suspenders. Don't wear them regularly since you have to remove your shirt to drop your pants but with no butt, when I'm carrying, they're a big help in keeping my pants up.

Do they clip on the sides rather than front and back?

Same thing with the shirts here, I use a pair of BDU suspenders that hook around your belt and are easy to undo without having to remove your shirt when it is necessary to drop trou.
