This is just moving closer and closer to home. I always read stories about shootings in Tulsa and it's always "Another night in North Tulsa" but this is broad daylight and moving closer to where I live.

"TULSA, Oklahoma - Tulsa Police are investigating a shooting outside a QuikTrip near 71st and Mingo Friday morning.
Homicide detectives say Terrell Deon Moore, 27, is a person of interest in the shooting at 9200 East 71st Street.

Police say the incident started as a confrontation between two groups outside the QuikTrip at 51st Street and Yale Avenue, then continued to the second location near 71st and Mingo.

Officers say somebody used a baseball bat on a car and someone else returned fire with a handgun.

EMSA said paramedics treated a 30-year-old male at the scene and transported him to a Tulsa hospital.

Tulsa Police say a second person showed up at another hospital with head injuries, but had not been shot.

Even police say a busy QuikTrip, in broad daylight, seems like a strange place for people to handle their differences with violence.

Pam and Debbie were going shopping, when they decided to stop in for a drink at QuikTrip around 10:20 a.m.

"I heard the 'pop, pop, pop, pop' and I saw her duck behind her car," witness Debbie said.

Pam said, "I just stayed ducked down cause I wasn't going anywhere, he was just shooting everything that moved."

Pam was already outside and Debbie was just coming up to the door when the shots rang out on the west side of the store.

"I was scared to death," Pam said. "I've never been in that situation, all I could think was just stay put, stay put, don't run because he's going to shoot you."

While she was crouched behind her driver's-side front tire, a bullet went through it. She was so close, she could feel the air from the flattened tire on her foot.

Another bullet left a hole in her front passenger-side fender. Both were way too close for comfort.

"It was the shock of my life," Pam said.

Police said a man with a woman in one car, got into a confrontation with two men in another car.

They say the man with the woman got out with a baseball bat and smashed the passenger window of the other car, hitting the passenger in the head.

That's when the driver of that smashed car got out with a gun and opened fire.

Both the shooting victim and bat victim are expected to recover.

Police say it's a miracle no innocent bystanders were hurt or worse.

"I've been to shooting ranges with people; I've been with people who hunt," Pam said. "Never had a bullet shot at me. It's a feeling you can't describe. You walk around going thank you God, thank you, thank you."

If you can help police find Moore, contact Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS."

An obvious thug, which is why he didn't stick around after letting the bullets fly. And not good shooting either, from the looks of that poor lady's car at the gas pumps.

I hope he is arrested soon.

You might be surprised to learn of the number of incidents that happen closer to your home and don't make the evening news. They may not be to this magnitude, but I promise they are enough to be concerning. The average person has no idea. My wife used to ask me why I carry in South Tulsa during the middle of the day. She hasn't asked that question in the past couple of years since I opened her eyes.
