Sig P220 SAO - Great trigger, but low capacity for its bulk.
1911 from a reputable manufacturer - pretty much the default answer.

I won’t rank my list, because I can’t. They’re all good and all serve a purpose. I’m surprised to see someone else included a G36, but it’s an under appreciated concealed carry 45. If size isn’t an issue and you need capacity, Glock 21 is tough to beat, and the “SF“ is my preference due to fitting my hand better. For an American classic, a 1911 is definitely the way to go. I’ve 1911’s by most of the major production companies, all the semi custom builders, and a few custom builders. If I had to recommend one, I would say Les Baer is the best bang for the buck.

Hard to say, I like the XDs I carry, but also have a Glock 21 and had nothing against the Ruger P90 other than it rattled. Never had a 1911 with decent sights but would like to have an A1 or something similar.
