My buddy went yesterday. Found a real honey hole this time. It's a "green area" in a housing development. People walked by while he was picking. Guess they don't know what's in those flower beds. Lol.

And to think I just mowed down and chopped up no less than 3X that amount!!!

What do these things taste like? I love mushrooms but, I never knew about these "morels" till I read this post. I think I need to re-read and look over some of the recipes. It seems like most of you guys are deep frying these - correct?

Yeah, deep fry. I like to dip in egg wash and use my favorite fish fry mixture.
Put in soups or cooked in butter and put on a steak.

Okie4570 is going to come put a thumping on you when he finds out you mowed up a patch. :D

It depends on if I can find some to eat, to see if I like them or not. Dang! I bet I could have filled four or five 5 gallon buckets, but I thought they were some kind of "sponge". I never knew what they were until looking at this post and pictures...

I bet I WON'T mow them down next time. These were about 200 yds. from the house and along the edge of the woods where I keep feed at for my deer....

Just guessing, I'm gonna say they were from golf ball size up to maybe a tennis ball in size, with the outside edge of them a little shorter than those in the middle, in the place where they were growing. I'm getting ready to walk back there now, and see if I can find some more and if I can, I'm gonna cook them like what Dennis said. Sounds yummy....
