Got a newfound respect for you, jr. You really stepped up and showed the love that dog deserves. Damn, I almost wish I was the one bitten by the PB when I kept seeing those saucers of bacon. :-)

Come on JB, its been all day now. Surely you have heard from the Vet?

Yes, I'll come to that when I get this wet concrete poured. I was making a lot of noise with the post hole digger when another pit bull came up on me. This time a white one. She came up on my easement barking and showing her teeth. This one belongs to a different household than the other. I backed off behind my fence line. I am going to catch flame for this, I know pundits will say I did everything wrong, but I pulled my Alaskan on the dog and pointed it at it, at a downward angle with nothing but a thick treeline behind it. This occurred 4 times. She knew what a gun was, and backed off onto the road, barking every time I pointed it at her. I did not shoot because she was not inside of my fence line. 30 minutes later a friend comes up and I tell him what happened. He patiently explained to me that I MUST call the Sheriff's office, so it can be on record. He said it needs to be on record. So I did. I explained to the lady on the phone what is occurring, and that I wanted it on the record, on file, and that I did not want to press charges. But that if one of these dogs comes onto my property I may have to shoot it. She got a lot of information from me and told me that I have the right to defend myself. Glad I haven't had a beer yet.
