Some years back UPS went from ground delivery on handguns to 2nd day air or next day delivery. Or from about $8-10 to OKC from just about anywhere in the US to about $25-30. I finally got to talk to a live person at UPS to inquire why. I was told too many guns were disappearing. Evidently fewer hands touch a next day or 2nd day air shipment as opposed to a ground shipment. Employee theft. When I asked him what happens when an employee steals a gun they told me he is fired on the spot. If they recover the gun it is sent to the recipient. If not, they reimburse the shipper. I asked if they report it to the police or ATF. No. I had to tell them it is a federal felony to steal a firearm shipped from or to a FFL. I also informed them that replacing the gun or reimbursing the shipper without reporting the theft to authorities in called Compounding a Felony which in itself is another felony in OK. The person I was talking to had no idea. This is why we have to pay much higher shipping charges on firearms:
EMPLOYEE THEFT!
All that aside, with very few exceptions, I have been pleased with FEDEX, UPS and USPS.

They are fired on the spot and walked out in handcuffs...

All delivery companies have occasional delays. I ordered a new SIM card on 5-12. It was sent 2nd day by 8 pm UPS. It arrived OKC on 5-13. No delivery was attempted until 5-17. I’ve found most are pretty reliable with FedEx Ground being the worst of all. Some of their employees can’t find their own behinds with both hands. All of them are hiring for any armchair quarterbacks that would like to actually play in the game. It’s not an easy job.
fedex package was due today, fedex sent new message it will be here tomorrow, I am expecting a few more delays because that is what fedex does.

imo ups workers are paid above average wages and work harder than average

We need to start an OSA Delivery company. I’ll be the boss man and watch some of you fat old guys trying to find the right address. 😂
I worked for Airborne express in the early 90’s. OKC is very easy to get around address wise unless your downtown. Okc is laid out in a grid. Reno Ave is the North South divider, Santa Fe the East West. Numbered streets run East-West, named streets run North-South. Hopefully everybody here can figure out how the NW, SW, NE, SE addresses work now. And yah, I did it back in the day before cell phones and GPS. Showed up at a house on SW 170th, in the sticks. 5 Rottweilers on the porch. Had to make friends before I could get to the porch. You never know what somebody else’s day is like so be considerate.

. . . which begs the question about whether they are taken directly to jail or rerouted around the country for awhile first :naughty:

I shipped a rifle from Las Vegas to Houston, to myself.

Insured it for $10k, shipped 2nd Day Air.

No "FIREARM" stickers on package. Manager at UPS wanted the stickers, is argued. I won.

Package was marked "INSURED" and "ADULT SIGNATURE REQUIRED"

5 days later, I came home from work and a package is on the porch. I hold Wif I was going to call UPS the next day and ask for tracking. She wouldn't let me.

I had a pretty pricey o/u shipped to my ffl that works out of his house. Supposed to have the same kinda deal as yours. It was delivered in a raging snow storm, at least according to the tracking. I called him and said "hey, how's it look?" He said, I dunno "it ain't here". Sonsabitches! He told me to hold on and went and looked on his porch. It was leaned against the front of the house, behind some bushes, in about a foot of snow, on the dirt not the cement. I was too relieved to be pissed, but he had been home all day and the doorbell never rang. According to tracking it had been there about an hour. I guess it happens a lot according to him.
