Actually you can't say that (without being ripped apart by some) because doctors feel that is something they can change by surgery. If doctors truly felt it was a mental disorder they would actually treat the mental illness part of it rather than expensive ineffective surgery and a lifetime of meds. Suicide rate among trans people is much higher from what I have heard and surgeries have lifelong issues that continually need surgical repair.

It is more of an issue because of the "beliefs" of the American Psychiatric Association. As with some other "abnormalities," the APA chose to determine that trans-people weren't having psychiatric issues and deemed them as normal. I guess that before they did that, they did believe that trans-people did have mental issues.

Something I've always wondered, how many of these murderers are on some type of anti depression drug. Seems like a lot of young people are on them and I remember when prozac came out there were a couple of murders but I have not found any investigation on the types of drugs these shooters are on. I always wondered if big pharma has a role but can't find any data

Big part of it I would imagine. In this case as I said earlier, wonder if she was on testosterone. If she was, prescription or self medication. Sadly we will never know.

Dr.s are afraid of being sued for not treating these children that's why they are allowing it.

Every psychiatrist in America (to keep the license) MUST themselves undergo regular psychiatric therapy. What does that tell you when every shrink has to have one of his or her own?
