In 1968 I could listen to KOMA on my car radio late at night in South California.

My dad said they used to use the signal for navigation sometimes when flying waaayyyyyy out west. He was at Vandenberg AFB and occasionally the signal would get into the Pacific.

Enid sucked for radio. I’ve always been in search of ‘new’ music. I hung a wire up on the chimney when I was about 11 or 12. Could get stations from pretty far up north.

When a kid, we had these little transistor radio's that only required clipping on to the metal part of a lamp. WLS in Chicago and KOMA were the only two stations that those radio's would pick up.

KVOO-AM out of Tulsa was a "truckers station." They gave highway reports from all over the country. They could be heard from coast to coast and from Canada to Mexico.

WKY radio 930 AM i think it was. danny williams KNID was another i remember when the tv programming didn't last all day and went off air at 10 oclock i think.

That's what my parents on the radio 99% of time. Billy Parker's voice still etched into my brain lol.
