My dad is a retired firefighter and he said he wouldn't be surprised if they left it on until April, most of our vegetation, particularly hay meadows and such is so Burt and dried up that it's not soaking in any moisture, so even when it rains, it's doing nothing for the already dead vegetation.

Sure wish they'd lift it, but they have a legit reason for needing it.

I bet there will be many counties who will reimplement their own county declared burn ban just as soon as the state declared ban gets lifted.

Two or three years ago when Henry was gov, he took off the burn ban after big rains all over the state. My son set fire to one of our brush piles and the next thing we knew, all the dead grass in the pasture was burning merrily. The fire guys came and put it out, but they got stuck in the mud and had to be pulled out, while fighting the grass fire.

That is probably why the ban has not been lifted.
