Fawns are dropping.

I was spraying the fence line behind the house this morning, and saw a doe jump up out of the brush on the other side, and just stop and look at me. I looked down, and there was a newborn fawn, still wet laying in some grass. I went back to the house to get a camera, and by the time I got back, it was gone. Tiny little thing sure was cute.
Been seeing some young bucks in velvet for the last couple of weeks too.

By this time next year, he'll almost be big enough for a pot of chili, some jerky and a coupla sticks of summer sausage!

My girlfriends dad raises deer and he has already had 6 drop so far......1 of em didnt make it though.

I saw a road kill with horns about 6" high in the velvet last week. They sure grow fast.

Give it another week and most of the Fawns for 2010 will already be born.

I saw a newborn dead at the side of the road today. Still had it's spots. Just East of Binger. Also saw a very pregnant doe dead beside the road just West of Binger. Neither were there yesterday when I went through.

jumped a fawn up sunday at my lease... watched it run around in the weeds a while but the mom was no where to be found?
