What's unbelievable to me is the willingness of such a large number of people that actually TRY to interfere, at the very least, in the operation of manned aircraft. The laser pointer incidents on aircraft have become almost an epidemic.

Mexican attack on the Pope's plane (just happened):

It's often hard to believe the ignorance and arrogance of people doing things like that.

Something to think about:

You're not really registering your drone aircraft. Your registering yourself. You get issued a single number that must be affixed to anything you fly. Thats not drone registration, that OPERATOR registration. (I reserve the use of the word PILOT for those who are licensed to operate manned aircraft)

my boss is into RC gliders and he was concerned about this issue, originally it covered any aircraft over 1/2 lb., IIRC
they have loosened up some of the requirements, weight being one of them, now it's anything over 5 lbs has to be registered, IIRC

Do I need to Register My Drone?

You need to register your aircraft if it weighs between 0.55 lbs. (250 grams) and up to 55 lbs. (25 kg)

I'm not going to register. FAA is breaking numerous laws by enacting this. RC Aircraft are exempt, and have been for a long time. It's a knee jerk reaction to calm the public down. Also the regulation they made up has no actual teeth, they're basically bluffing every one.
