So you are either advocating to redeploy and occupy Iraq again or your advocating to arm another sect(kurds) to do our fighting by proxy.

Either way, Americans are tired of this middle east war dance. We've fought and beat the war drums long enough. Nobody but a few war mongers supports this idiotic war anymore. If the average Arab/Muslim wont fight back, neither should we.

Let China, India, Iran and Saudi Arabia carve up the middle east and run the show for a decade or 5.

There's a reason I suggested MOAB's and carpet bombing. Seriously, they've earned it! :(

Per CNN just now; US is arming Kurds directly and bypassing Baghdad.

Edit: Maliki will not step down and is defiantly going to seek a 3rd term. This is frustrating attempts to save the situation, and in a long overdue response, we are arming up the Kurds directly now.

That's what got the ball rolling. Bush broke Iraq without a thought in the world about how to put it back together.
Humpty Dumpty can't be put together again. Iraq is de facto partitioned now and it likely will stay that way.

Maliki purged the military of Sunnis too, against advice from US advisers, and turned the Iraqi military into a completely ineffective fighting force because Sunnis had most of the military experience during decades of rule under Saddam.
If Maliki stays even Baghdad is in danger of falling due to his intransigent sectarianism.
I'm glad were going around him and assisting the Kurds directly.

You guys can ignore the obvious if you wish, but these strategic strikes of mortar locations is Obama attempting to appease us while allowing his brothers to carry on with the Muslim agenda. Why do you think they are making comments so bold as the flag of alibaba will be raised on the White House?

I lifted this from wiki. This is why we shouldnt arm the Kurds and why the next country that may fall will probably be Jordan.

"Al-Zarqawi started the network with the intention of overthrowing the Kingdom of Jordan, which he considered to be un-Islamic according to the four schools of*Sunni Islamic jurisprudence. For this purpose he developed numerous contacts and affiliates in several countries. Although it has not been verified, his network may have been involved in the late 1999*plot to bomb the Millennium celebrations*in the United States and Jordan. However, al-Zarqawi's operatives were responsible for the assassination of US diplomat*Laurence Foley*in Jordan in 2002.[165]

Following the*US-led invasion of Afghanistan, al-Zarqawi moved westward into Iraq, where he reportedly received medical treatment in*Baghdad*for an injured leg. It is believed that he developed extensive ties in Iraq with*Ansar al-Islam("Partisans of Islam"), a Kurdish Islamic militant group based in the extreme northeast of the country. Ansar allegedly had ties to Iraqi Intelligence;*Saddam Hussein's motivation would have been to use Ansar as a surrogate force to repress secular Kurds fighting for the independence of*Kurdistan.[166]*In January 2003, Ansar's founder*Mullah Krekar*denied any connection with Saddam's government.[167]

The consensus of intelligence officials has since been that there were no links whatsoever between al-Zarqawi and Saddam, and that Saddam viewed Ansar al-Islam "as a threat to the regime"[168]*and his intelligence officials were spying on the group. The 2006*Senate Report on Pre-war Intelligence on Iraq*concluded: "Postwar information indicates that Saddam Hussein attempted, unsuccessfully, to locate and capture al-Zarqawi and that the regime did not have a relationship with, harbor, or turn a blind eye toward al-Zarqawi."[168]

Following the*2003 US-led invasion of Iraq, JTJ developed into an expanding militant network for the purpose of resisting the coalition occupation forces and their Iraqi allies. It included some of the remnants of Ansar al-Islam and a growing number of foreign fighters. Many foreign fighters arriving in Iraq were initially not associated with the group, but once they were in the country they became dependent on al-Zarqawi's local contacts.[169]"

Is that 'White House Down' or 'Olympus has Fallen'?

It seems to be a blindingly simple formula that many refuse to acknowledge. In the Fertile Crescent, the atrocities of autocratic dictators leading a secular government, always pale in comparison to the atrocities committed by fanatical religious sects bent on overthrowing the autocrats.

When dictators rule, oil flows, hospitals and schools are built food is plentiful and religious terrorists are suppressed. When religious fanatics rule, we get destroyed historical sites, beheadings, rapes, starvation, refugees fleeing and a complete breakdown of the society.

We simply don’t like Assad because he’s Putin’s dictator, not ours. Before we hated Saddam, we liked him. We liked the Shah of Iran. We liked Hosni Mubarak. We tolerated Gaddafi once he learned not to mess with us. We get along very well with the secular government of Turkey. In short, strict secular regimes offer stability that the religious fanatics never will. We get along great with the strict rule of the King of Jordan. Even the Saudi royalty understands the needs of Saudi Arabia and the region are more important than the religious needs of Wahhabi fanaticism.

So, when will we learn our lesson? There is no perfect solution in the Fertile Crescent. Given Democracy mob rule, they will always choose the path that leads to their own destruction. Along the way, they’ll take down anyone else they don’t care for. Their natural capacity for hatred far outweighs their capacity for nurturing. Someday, we really need to learn that the more we meddle in their affairs, the worse the results. I’m all for killing the bloodthirsty savages that attack innocent people, but the nation building crap has to stop. :(

So which is it Lurker? Turkey or Jordan? I'm betting Lebanon myself. :nutkick:

Honesty I dunno. Im kinda leaning toward Jordan be next. Surrounded by Egypt, Syria and Iraq. Lebanon has Hezbollah which is different than Hamas, Brotherhood, ISIS, alQaida.

Jordan will be very vulnerable once the Kurds get their section.
