On a lighter note. It’s Girl Scout Cookie season.

That’s kind of like robbing the girls from making money for their troop. Pay the extra and help your community out.
Daughter was in GS, early early / mid '90s. Wif was "cookie director" for the district. Had a semi unload cookies in my garage.

Found out that the "local troop" kept $0.05 of every BOX they sold.

We haven't bought many cookies since then, even fewer after wokeness.

The local "cookie director" told us the $0.05 is up to a $0.10.

I have a hard time not buying a box, when a little one is selling. I have no trouble turning down a parent.

What cookies are sold depends on region. East region and West region have different varieties. Thin mints, Samoas, and Tag-a-longs are available everywhere.

You are there to earn a paycheck not insult a coworker daughter’s club.

Yes, I'm there to earn a paycheck,,,
I am not there to be an automatic (captive) support for their daughter's club.

I feel the same way about those United Way donation envelopes,,,
My workplace (OK State University) sponsored the yearly drive,,,
My co-workers get absolutely draconian solicitating funds.

I donate to local charities as a rule,,,
That way I know where my money is going.

I don’t guess how I understand how her asking you to buy some cookies is somehow offending you and think she’s promoting a woke agenda. Politely decline. Common courtesy can go a long ways. I don’t know I shy away from politics in my field.

I never said "she" is promoting a woke agenda,,,
I said the GSA is woke and I won't support them.

I just got tired of every parent who had a kid in some organization,,,
Dropping off envelopes on my desk asking for money,,,
Then acting all offended when I declined.

Honestly, never a week went by that someone didn't have their hand out,,,
And many were very passively aggressive when I "politely declined".

I just think it's bad manners to use ones "captive" coworkers as a donation base.

'nuff said?

I buy anything from any kid that comes to my door or that I see selling at store fronts. No matter what, even if I just throw it away.

Why? Because back in the 80s I went all over my south Tulsa neighborhood selling Scout O’ Rama (or whatever it was called) tickets for my Boy Scout troop. Freaking no one bought them even though they were only a dollar.

I had a lot of doors shut on me and it was very demoralizing and hard on me as a dorky, gangly fifth grader. I promised myself I would never let a kid go through that if they have the courage to try and sell them to me. I honor that promise decades later.

I don’t give a rats rear if they are a woke organization, that kid selling whatever doesn’t need to be involved in politics. So if you are a kid, come to my house and I will buy whatever crap you are selling.
