Range time is a good start. Have her go to an IDPA match so she can see what it's like to draw from concealment, move, shoot while moving, shoot from behind cover, shoot from akward positions, have some pressure on her, etc... It would make her feel more comfortable handling the firearm and have some fun at the same time. Just my .02
+1 IDPA is really geared towards potential crime victims. We have a disproportionate number of middle aged males out there, but we do have some women and junior shooters as well.
