He is a Dem plant and will throw the election so Hillary can win.

I'm a bigtime anti-conspiracy theorist but this theory holds water.

There is no way he wants to be president. Have you seen how much these guys age while in office? Trump has a sweet life right now so why would he want to trade it or shorten it? I think this plan was hatched after Hillary lost to O in 08'. Hillary knew she would only have one more shot and who better than her friend, donor and fellow NYer to run interference to ensure her bid for the presidency? What's in it for Trump you say? Can you imagine the debt owed to Trump after he gifts her the White House? It's almost scary how easily the GOP base has been played by their arch nemisis in the Clintons. Crafty bastards they are.

Plus, even if Cruz somehow wrangles the nomination, Trump will run third party and still hand the White House to Clinton. There is no scenario where Hillary cannot win.

Trump ought to be a wake up call to the republican establishment. The party has lost it's values. It's cashed in the ideas of individualism and freedom and perverted them to the benefit of those with the biggest check book. And it's showing in this election. It's a new era in politics girls and boys. 2020 will be really interesting!

And Trump represents the restoration of values?!? That doesn't seem clear to me at all.
Trump may be an object lesson that the masses can be led astray by a demagogue as our founding fathers feared and warned about.

However, the fact that he has become such a contender should show the party regulars that they have gotten off track.

Trump is a protest candidate. He is as surprised as everyone at his lead. People aren't voting for Trump. They are voting against the establishment. He may be a demagogue but the people voting for him would likely tell you it isn't them that has been led astray but that the party itself has strayed.

I am sure they would, and I'm sure they would be sincere. Yet, a fair look at Trump can only lead one to the conclusion that IF that is the Trump voter's motivation then they are not rationally connecting ends to means. A vote for Trump does not lead to "purer" Republican or Conservative outcomes - it is a cut off one's nose to spite one's face response.

Trump has already shifted his tone. He was much more congenial tonight. I think he's starting his move to the middle in preparation for the General election....

I'm not arguing that Trump is a good candidate or the corrector of all republican wrongs. I'm just saying that what is going on with Trump isn't a vote for Trump but a vote against what the party has become. I think people are voting for the protest candidate out of protest.

I agree but I think it is not a well reasoned plan.
