My advice is to buy a thick stiff belt. That is the absolute best thing you can do. There are two holsers I absolutely love: Milt Sparks VMII (actually everyone loves this one) and Comp-Tac MTAC. As for what weapon to carry good luck you are going to get a thousand opinions. Whatever it is make sure it's reliable.

X a million

Holsters are much more personal preference, but a good belt is essential. Getting one (have two now) made even my lesser holsters work much better.

I love a little .380 cause they are easy to hide and carry but when I can conceal a bigger gun, the Kahr CW9 is what I carry. Still thin and easy to conceal.

I can't narrow it down. I like the PM9 for when I can't carry a decent sized gun. It disappears wherever you put it. I carry a 3913 when I can get away with a little bit bigger gun and a G-19 when I can carry whatever I want.

The third and fourth posts are excellent advice. As for a weapon, what you shoot best. With a good rig you can carry anything from a full size on down comfortably, after you get used to it. I'd rather have a weapon that I was proficient with, than one I couldn't hit the side of a barn with. Find what fits you best, and you will carry and enjoy it a lot more than just getting what someone else likes. Rent or borrow all the guns you can to try before you buy one. Guns are like shoes. Some fit and some don't.
