I went on one years ago with OHP and it seems like I left a hole in the floor board where the brake pedal should have been and a nice set of deep finger prints in the dash. I think he did that on purpose but I loved it.

You love that story only because you didn't LIVE it!! :cry3::cry3::cry3: I still have nightmares of being stuck in the county jail with that female jailer and her rubber glove!! :cry3:

Actually, I have that fantasy too...... and handcuffs, and shower scene.

Then there is another one with a nurse, and a schoolteacher, and.........:sorry1:

:rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao: GC has been known to do ride-alongs for people interesting in seeing what it is really like vs. what everybody "knows" it is like. But alas, he is no longer on the street ... YEAH!!!!!!! So, anyway, I know OHP does them. IIRC the officer has to get permission from his CO even if the foolhardy victim signs a waiver.

Just between you guys and the fence post if I ever get in another patrol car in my lifetime it will be TOO SOON. GAWD what an awful day ... :cry3:

Gosh I wish I would have found OSA sooner so many stories I have missed

Yes if you just ask a LEO, he will have to get permission from his CO, but if you go to the PD and tell you want to do a ride along, they will set it up, and most likely they will set you up with a supervisor or FTO,

If you know any LEO's that are friends I would ask them first...if you just go to the PD and ask you don't know who you will get. If you are almost done with a degree in Criminal Justice...I would also tell you to go on rides with several different PD's. When you go for your interview they will ask you how you know you want to be an Officer and or what you have done to show you have interest in L.E. You can then tell them about your different rides. Also it will give you the ability to see different levels of activity from different places. I would also tell you to go on rides with different shifts so you can see the difference between those as well.

This...
This is the best advice here yet, it is always best to ride along with several different departments and shits, therre is a BIG defference in them. I have a uncle that is a investigator with Chandler PD and works the day shift, and a ride-along with him is pretty boring, but I have another uncle that is the Captain in Vally-Brook and he works nights, and when I ride with him it is always eventful. Before I shot my hand, I was in the early stages of the police academy, going to go work with Clevland County and I went out almost everyday on a ride-along and it would vary from day to day, but for the most part is was always fun.

I work for Sapulpa Pd. You are more than welcome to come ride with. I switch to day shift in the middle of January. Right now I'm on graveyard. You would have to go to the police dept. and fill out the form and get it notorized(they can do right there)....you have to remember, winter time USUALLY slows down. The cold weather keeps people inside. PM me and let me know.
