I don't see how sexuality has anything to do with the second amendment but thanks for contributing the bigotry :)

It's not bigotry, it's fact. Uber-liberal homosexuals are some of the most anti-gun people there are - even worse than Bloomberg, Soros and the Bradys. Now moderate or conservative homosexuals - that's a different story.

I will say that no policy in this situation is ideal.
However, I go to OU and I felt just fine with how yesterday was handled. It sucked being locked in a classroom without my Glock not knowing what was going on, but I understand that the last thing you want is 50 people wandering around with guns in an active shooter situation. Campus is so vast it would be hard enough tracking one person down. I couldn't imagine trying to sort through every single person you see with a gun, that would cost precious time. Our SDA permits are for our and our families protection, not to save the world. That is what the guys and gals with badges get paid to do.
I rationalize it as realistically what would having my Glock have done? It's not like I could have drawn it, pointed at the door and waited for a masked boogieman to come in while trying to convince my class and professor that I'm not the bad guy while simultaneously trying to inform the police of that as well.
Just my .02, and apparently I'm not the only one.

Then you could have just said ultra liberals are some of the most anti-gun people out there. Instead you chose to incite an argument by throwing in your comment there.

I'm pretty sure most leftists are anti gun, no matter who they screw.

I don't see whats so funny here. We all have a common interest in the 2nd Amendment correct? If we want to push that as the law of the land we must be accepting of all pro 2nd amendment folks. In addition one of antigunners main stereotypes is that pro RTKBA folks are "ignorant rednecks" "racist bigots" and people that "cling to their guns and religion". We should be doing everything we can to not fall into those stereotypes. The best defense of the constitution is rational, articulate debate.

Then we have this

Really playing into MSNBC's hands there.

In short, y'all retarded.

We can have these arguments with out the name calling folks.
Making a stupid argument doesnt mean the poster is stupid, and they will be considerably more apt to see the error of their ways if they are approached with some semblance of respect. This holds true even if their views deserve very little respect.

I agree with President Boren. In a situation like the one that just happened, the last thing you need is non-uniformed people running around with guns drawn. It's a good way for someone (not the bad guy(s)) to get killed.
As Josh_S said above "Our SDA permits are for our and our families protection, not to save the world. That is what the guys and gals with badges get paid to do."
I think that OU handled it acceptably, and I'm glad it turned out the way it did.

Well, lucky for you there really wasn't an active shooter. . .in your classroom. Your SDA, which is to protect you and your family, would still be safely locked in your car and you'd be dead. See how that works?

Who said there would be 50 people running around with guns drawn? If there is a shooter in the area, the last thing I'm going to do is "run around". And my firearm wouldn't leave the holster until I was actually presented with a threat.

That argument is just a shade lighter than the "blood in the streets" argument that was made before concealed carry passed, and it's just as weak-sauce.

I'd be barricaded in my classroom with the rest of my classmates, with my pistol ready to perform it's function...

How does having a gun on your person to defend yourself equate to running around trying to save the world? This is not an either or situation. Personally, I can not justify leaving my firearm off my person except where it is illegal AND there is a good chance it would be discovered.
To think otherwise seems like a short hop away from justifying disarmament for our own safety to me.

SMS beat me to it.
