Be careful what you wish for--the last time they "revised our ridiculous liquor laws" they took away our ability to buy beer between 2am and 6am.

I hear you. Too bad we can't have some common sense improvements like individuals being able to have wine shipped into the state and liquor at grocery stores. I hate having my selection of wine limited to what the distributors think I should have.

I try to avoid Wal Mart and Target for groceries these days. Not out of principle against big businesses, but more because I feel indecent subjecting myself to their stores, terrible lines, and general indignity by they way they "process" their customers rather than serve or help them.

What you just said related my experience at Walmart today. One of me 3-5 trips a year to that place. My coffee maker croaked yesterday, so I went in, compared, and picked one out. After 15 minutes inline to pay, I called the store and asked for the manager.

I explained my issues, and the check out line lights lit up down the line.

Do these people not monitor the checkout lines for long lines?

My grocery store, Pyramid guarantees no more than two people in line at a time or they open another lane.

HEB would do well in Oklahoma. When I'm in Texas, we do all our grocery shopping at HEB or Central Market...absolutely none at walmart/target/etc.

If that's the one I think it is, it was called Native Roots Market when it was in Norman. They hitched up their skirts and ran away to OKC when Sprouts announced that they were coming to Norman.

FWIW, when my brother lived in Denton, I visited the Kroger several times. I'd rate it a solid Meh. All I know about HEB is that my aunt went to school with the founder (or maybe the founder's son).

yep, that's it. thanks for the clarification.

I miss Safeway. Nice clean store. Wish they would come back.

Like always, depends on what part of the city it's in. The one in Tulsa years back near downtown was shady as F---.

Obviously not. The thing that gets me is that they close down the self-checkout registers around 10pm--the way they're set up, you can have one person monitoring six (or more) registers, so if you have those open, plus one or two "regular" registers, there wouldn't be many people stuck waiting in line in the middle of the night. But noooo, if you need some Advil at 11pm, you're stuck waiting in line while some broad in a scooter tries to buy a cartload of steak and beer with food stamps...
