Of all creatures that walk, crawl, swim or fly, I fear a damn pit bull more than anything. I am just skeered shitzzless of the things. I don't trust them at all. Sorry.

Notice there's another thread about a bull dog putting stitches in someone's hand.... nobody says a word. A pit bull gets loose, does nothing.... people have to express their irrational fears and tall tales from Barnsdall. Granted most people THINK they are dealing with a "pit" and they have no idea of the true breed anyways.

Never understood the irrational fear of certain dog breeds. In the 80-90s it was Rotts and Dobermans.

Ya'll are just as bad those that fear the "evil" black rifles.

There is a reason that K9's are Rotts, dobies, and shepards. Its not because they have the greatest dispositions in the world. They aren't any smarter than any other dog.

Rotts, Dobermans, and Shepards all have great dispositions, granted they are brought up in stable house. Kind of like humans...

I'll also say that they also exhibit more intelligence than other breeds. They're by far and large more trainable than many.

In terms of irrational fear..... it is absolutely spot on.

In your mind, maybe. But it is NOT irrational to have a healthy respect and even a fear of an animal that was previously normal and may snap and attack.

A black rifle will never "snap and attack". A dog just might. Therefore it is not irrational - it might be unlikely, it might be rare, but it certainly isn't irrational.

It's not in my mind, in the media they are one in the same in perception, or to people that don't know any better. If you look at the number of incidents, they are extremely small relative to numbers, relative to reported numbers of ownership. JUST LIKE incidents with Black rifles. Yet people fear them the most. Healthy respect is one thing..... irrational fear is another. Just because a dog walks down the street, people fear them? I will also say there is no random attack, there is reason, the human is usually unaware of it or probably doesn't understand it, but there's a reason.

I don't understand the irrrational fear I have of Pit Bulls either...I just know that I am damn sure skeered of them. Maybe, if I were to seek professional help, ...nah.
