May need a place to stay; Landlord threatening eviction for asking for repairs

What?! So you need a big nice house but can’t afford one, prefer renting but think it’s morally wrong to rent out houses?

Next I’m going to buy a really cheap lot and build a small simple house myself. Around 800 sq ft. You could totally do it.

have you ever done something because ya know....you NEED it, like paying $5 a gallon for gas when you KNOW just a few years ago you were paying $2 and the $5 seems excessive; but you do it anyway?

how hard is this to understand?! it's SHELTER IT'S A NECCESSITY.

i remember reading posts here about ya'll freaking out you couldn't get a wendy's breakfast sandwhich during covid and ya'll are seriously like "why would someone complain about the DESTROYED HOUSING MARKET?"

You don’t want to own, no problem. You’ve been offered a place by a member to come and live. Take it or don’t, I don’t care, it’s you're life and decision.

Quit bashing people who are doing their own thing and providing for their family.

And no rich people can’t buy everything they want, my home/land/cattle or what ever I have isn’t for sale at any price. I’ve earned it by working and making it mine.

I didn’t have anything when I came into this world except the good Lord and my parents and when I leave I’ll still have the good Lord and my wife.

You had sympathy when the issue was the leak and then you went wheels off about everything being against you. Your whole argument about people renting out houses is basically equivalent of you being mad at the grocery store because they provide an essential, which is food, and make money off of it. Based off your argument for housing, nobody should make money off of necessities and food straight from the source I.e a cow on the hoof or corn stalk in the ground is much cheaper than buying beef in the store. Grocery stores provide a service for people who cannot or don't want to farm. That does not make grocery stores predatory, that just means that they saw a need for something and provided a service to accommodate it It's really not that different than housing or any other necessity, just because it is a necessity does not mean that it has to play out the way that you think it should.

Needless to say I have landlords like ole grizz and not a huge fan of landlords right now. Never had one that was worth a ****.

I WAS a landlord once… got married and moved into wife’s house, so rented 3br 2car attached garage, etc.. great renter for 15 years, but I never checked the place -= my bad. Heck he’d fix stuff I’d deliver and deduct from rent. Well after divorce and kid grew up and had a kid…NEVER RAISED his rent in 15 years.. when he moved out it almost cost me 15 years of rent to fix - cat piss smell everywhere. Smoked and couldn’t get it out.. gutted and new windows the whole bit. I ended up just selling to get the heck out of landlord biz. If you’re a LL YOU HAVE TO ALMOST BE AN A$$.. I should have been and I would still have a decent rental.. that said good luck!! Really. But people don’t judge the ones who stick to rules, they HAVE TO.
