Oh now I'm so confused! Should I do it MY way? Put the MSH in a vice? Put the punch in a vise? Punch the vise?

Punch the vise, while the 5/16 punch is in your mouth, while using your thigh to support the retaining spring. When you do this, make sure you have eye protection because the 3/4" pygmy flange will likely shoot out, and if THAT happens, your 1911 will automatically revert to full auto...at least that's what I heard on the internet...

I put the larger punch in the vise. One hand manipulates the MSH and the remaining uses the smaller to ease out the retainer pin. Works well and greatly reduces possibility of flying parts.
