Yikes! I need to check mine. The wings on the valve broke off and I've been putting of replacing it.
I would have thought it would develop a pinhole leak first.

Damn! That's a lot of pressure for an air compressor. Going back to the OP, I have the typical home owner grade 60 gal 5hp upright compressor in my garage. I took out the lousy little drain valve it came with and installed 1/2" 90s , pipe, and a ball valve ran out to the side making it much easier to drain without having to reach under it. I drain every time I use it.I had a 4 inch hose with 400 psi blow off of a compressor by me at work one night. I about had a biohazard.
I drain mine almost every time.
Um,yeah I think,no wait...maybeAre we still talking about air compressors?
Will still need to drain it, even if it has a leak it will still get the condensation in it.Fortunately, mine has a slow leak and will bleed off in about a day. I only turn it on right before I use it anyway.
...
I should have it completed and ready to run tomorrow. If I live, I'll let you know how it does. I might even post a picture.
