So if it's out of state and from an individual do you still have to route it through an FFL?
Yes. The out of state seller will have to get an ffl holder in his area to do the transfer to a local ffl holder in your area. It will ship ffl to ffl and you will have to find a local ffl holder to accept the transfer and have it shipped to them locally. Transfer cost vary from $10.00-$25.00 just depends what your ffl charges. And you still have to do the background check as usual.

It doesn't have to be sent by an FFL, only received by one; that said, many receiving FFLs make the choice to receive only from other FFLs. Also, the Post Office has some restrictions about non-FFL senders, but again, that's not a law.

I have sold on armslist before.
I only do a ftf locally.
If they do not contact you after you have tried to contact them it's either a scam or the item may not be available any longer. It could have sold and the person selling has a different email address and hasn't updated their account.
I've had people on both armslist and osa contact me stating they wanted to buy what I was selling. I would drive to meet them and they wouldn't show up and wouldn't answer their phone. So with that said I only meet ftf localy now. If they wont come to me here I just say no thanks.
So you just have to go with your gut.
If they dont contact you back just move on and forget about it.:twocents:

If you have issues from OSA members, leave appropriate feedback so the rest of us will know.

This is true, I've gotten handguns from individuals that went to an FFL. I've also used the USPS to mail long guns to an FFL out of state

Reminded me of a funny story.
I used to do a lot of ebay stuff and got to know the people at the usps pretty well.
The first time I mail a gun,an AR, I separated the upper and lower so I could get it in a smaller box.
I was apprehensive about walking in with a 'gun in a box'. Figured some people might get uncomfortable if the had an idea what was in there.
I get up to be the next in line and the guy blurts out rather loud, 'Hey Darren, what kinda gun you shipping?'
Never worried about it after that.

It's a craigslist for guns. There are a few things to look for to determine if it's a scam or not.
One of the easy ones is, if it says 'Oklahoma, oklahoma' as the location, is for get about it. There are some armslist regulars on here that can tell you some other things to look for.
If it's from a dealer then yes, it's like GB. If it's an individual, proceed with the standard precautions

I've seen several rifle deals there that are too good to be true from "Stuart, Oklahoma". Tried to set up a face-to-face just for the hell of it, but it is always met with silence. They'll ship though, by God! Other than the obvious scams, I've done really well on armslist - buying and selling.

Lol!
I ship “machined metal parts”. Never had an eyebrow raised.

Well the seller did contact me and emailed me a bunch of pictures of the gun I was looking at. Looks like
we're going to make a deal. Everything seems legit so I'm hoping it all goes okay. I really do appreciate
everyone's advice on this. I'll let you know how it goes.

Good deal. Usually the scams are reasonably easy to weed out.

I have around 20 or so transactions from Armslist without any major problems. This week I've used it 4 times. I did have one guy no show last year. He called me the next day and gave me a story I believed. Even met me close to my house and drove from Tulsa instead of us meeting halfway for his screw up. So in the end, it worked out.

I always meet in a public place. I always get their first and position myself for a nice exit if need be. PD's/SO's usually have those parking spots for stuff like this too. If dude isn't willing to meet there, back out. No matter how good the deal is, it's not worth wasting ammo if they turn out to be a tool or do you harm.

Ask lots of questions, ask for several pictures and details. If the seller/trader isn't willing to answer them all or be specific, back out. If it smells like a turd, looks like a turd, it definitely isn't a rose.
